A few of my newer students learning to perform a flying scissor takedown. This can be a dangerous throw if practiced carelessly but if you take your time to learn and practice it correctly it can be a lot of fun. Here are a few good tips
Throw your front leg high, all the way up to the waist.
Grab onto your partner's arm and far shoulder to support your weight
Swing your back leg behind the knees
Lastly, pull your partner backward to unload their weight from their legs.

Yeah, I went skydiving for the first time. The people at Midwest Freefall were awesome. Big thanks to my jump partner Brandon and my videographer Jeff. This was a really cool experience 😎 I would definitely go again.

I thought I would be more nervous about jumping but I had less nervousness than when I fight. This was easy.

This is one of the most devastating throws. This arm breaker throw is completely savage because not only can you break the opponent's arm, but it takes away their ability to breakfall properly. I'm over exaggerating the initial setup to illustrate the direction of force for educational purposes. In a combative scenario, the circle will be much smaller, and the violence of action is a lot faster.

In this video, she is learning one of Silat's most iconic takedowns, the flying scissor takedown. Once on the ground, she delivers a k ee to the head and transitions into a scarf hold.

This is a drill designed to create bilateralism. The feeder attacks back to back, which causes the receiver to have to respond to the right-handed and left-handed attacks in succession.
This one can be a real brain smoker. Start off slowly and slowly increase your intensity and speed.

Seriously throws are a game-changer especially if you are a smaller person. One of the biggest problems is having a bigger person grab you but if you know how to use throws it can be a secret weapon.

This student is learning a throw called Harai-Goshi I love this throw because it is fairly simple but has a big payoff. You see this one all the time in mma.

Integrating some new skills. The part of training that people overlook is the integration phase. Once you learn a new skill you have to practice it along with your previously known skills and drills. If you skip this integration phase the new skill will live separately from your regular toolbox of skills and you won't be able to access it when you are under stress.
